The Difference Between Heat Loss and Cement Based Renders
In an ideal world, insulating the outside of a solid wall isn't always possible. The germans were making their superinsulated buildings in the nineties. And they found that Render was constantly failing because air and water vapor within the air moved through the building towards the outside. As it cooled down towards the outside of the insulation, it condensated and then was trapped by this impervious render. That's why they started really looking into using lime and breathable renders to allow that moisture to escape - which is what i need to do in my house. I don't mind losing the the look of the bricks because they got cement in them. Anyday it looks you can tell
