We have an enormous dependence upon energy, cheap energy, to have cheap food. Now when we start to see, for simply reasons of global warming, we can't generate as much carbon dioxide that itself is a squeeze. But we've also got to the point where we've exhausted the conventional sources of oil. We only have things like tar sands and fracking and so on,. which were cheap for a while, but we'll see Spain's sheep. That takes a large amount of energy input to get your energy output. And ultimately that gap falls. With low energy return and energy invested, you simply can't afford the luxurious lifestyles that the entire culture's got used to. Most of that enjoyed
