Is Temporary Check a Good Idea?
Do you advocate that if it's temporary, people do some kind of exponential back off with some back pressure to eventually fail out? I think in the places where your code does actually know it's dealing with the network. Many times perhaps you shouldn't treat them more like black boxes because that makes them easier to just clip together. They have to be explicit or just opaque.
