Mark O'Mara: The college board is able to quote, as you put it, act like a de facto national school board. In that battle, which played out between about 2014 and 2015, people like myself, the National Association of Scholars challenged the college board's AP US history curriculum for its radicalism. He says when this was challenged, at first the college board ignored it; then they issued a revised curriculum framework. But from that moment, there came a desire on the part of many traditionalists and conservatives to create some kind of competition for the college board," he says.
