CNN's John Sutter says Twitter is using friction to slow down its users. The social media site uses a pop-up that asks if you've read an article before retweeting it, for example. But the company reversed this tactic after the 2020 election, he says. Why? It doesn't help them make more money and they're not doing enough to prevent misinformation from getting out of hand, Sutter writes.
