The way I've seen sales conducted incorrect and as many examples of this, it's almost as if the salesperson is trying to pull a fast one on you. If you don't have a good game plan or why this person needs whatever it is, you're selling them. When the sale is about the other person and figuring out what they need and what the impact can be for them, that's a real sale.
