The Raccoon Round Worm
Human parasites like the raccoon round worm are very, very uncommon. There have been fewer than 20 reported cases of balisascarus. Keep an eye on small children playing outdoors and near wooded areas where raccoons live. Other parasites use a different strategy. They invade quickly but lay undetected for years.
