The Relationship Between the Recovery of Plato and the Philosophical Engagement With His Works

Marcello Ficino had two of the three complete manuscripts of Plato that survive. His commentaries on Plato are primarily exegetical and hermeneutical. He very much is philologically minded and really an excellent Hellenist. But he tends to keep his philology in the manuscripts, as opposed to making it a part of his written commentary.
