Pints With Aquinas

CHAPTER

The Doctrine of the Incarnation

i want to make a connection between the doctrine of the divine simplicity and that most characteristic of all christian doctrines. In jesus, god becomes human without ceasing to be god or compromising the integrity of the created nature he assumes. This means that god is transcendent, but precisely in a non competitive manner. If god were simply one being among many, itis difficult, indeed, to imagine how his nature could come toge non competitively with the created nature. The best way to express this unique form of transcendence is to speak of god not as a being, but rather as the sheer act of tbe itself.
