Human objectives are actually, shall we say, plastic or able, right? So it's something about our culture that creates adults who have fairly definite preferences about the future. And so this new model, ah, i don't think it's perfect, but it's a huge step beyond the way we've been thinking about ai for the last 70 years. It produces these behaviors, you know, asking questions, asking permission, deferring and even allowing yourself to be switched off. The machine that knows that it doesn't know what the objective is, actually wants you to switch it off,. Because it doesn't want to do anything sufficiently bad that you'd want o itch it off.
