The Origins of the Coffee House
The origin of the coffee house is really, again, goes back to the Middle East. The first coffee house that we probably are definitive about is one in Damascus in 1534. Coffee has this metabolizing element to it and whereas previously people would socialize over sort of small beer, light ale, this kind of thing, be drinking coffee.
