The outermost portion of the human brain is known as the cortex, which means bark. Brain cells that do most of the information processing are organized into either clumps or sheets. The regions of the brain that control our ability to both comprehend and speak are located over what are called the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. And tucked in there is an area of the brain involved in the production of speech.
