The Roman Baths
The baths were the centre of social life for Roman citizens. The public bath was a luxury that had grown in fits and starts over the course of the republic, but by the age of the antonines, it had developed into an indispensable part of life. In 33 b c, agrippa took account of the public baths in rome and came up with a hundred and 70 scattered across the city. By the time his term was over, there were at least a hundred and 71 as agrippa built himself, that he generously announced would be free to the public forever.
