The Book of Revelation

Who wrote the book of Revelation? There is some debate even around that topic itself. The most common view has been that it was written by John the apostle or John, son of Zebedee. It's another figure named John the elder and John the elder from an early second century source. He wasn't a member of the 12, but he was an eyewitness of Jesus's ministry.
