The Importance of Reading Revelation Intertextually

It's not just a matter of knowing the Old Testament well, you need to know the book of Revelation really well. If we're going to understand these properly, we have to read them intertextually as it's helping us. For example, a good one to think of is the lukewarm water mentioned in the seventh church and chapter three. And so often we hear that as, you know, be zealous, be hot, be on fire for God, don't be cold and don't be lukewarm. Well, it's actually good to be cold in that context because cold water would refresh or hot water would be from the springs and they would cleanse and heal
