Teachers encourage students to learn collaboratively, teach each other and be responsible for the academic success of others. These collaborative arrangements were not necessarily structured like those of cooperative learning. One teacher used a buddy system where each student was paired with another. Buddies quizzed each other for tests and if one buddy was absent, it was responsibility of the other to call and see why.
