The History of the Bitmap Display
In early computers like the Atari and the Apple, Apple II and things like that, they had a display where you could specify the pixels on the screen. The first time I saw one of those was probably at Xerox part, the Xerox Palo T research center in 1979. Now subsequently, this notion of a bitmap display is a display where there is a piece of memory that stores values in it.
