Is There a Social or Historical Version of Evolution?

We still think of one stage is more advanced than the other. There may be something normative there, i don't know. I'm a huge pessimist that. And im normally i'm a big advocate o. D everything's just as bad now in different ways as it was. But when we are comfortable talking about... biological evolution,. even if we we know that that's directed by purely natural forces, but we still think of it as an evolution. This is what i'm putting up for discussion.
