Reading Recovery
Sandra Iverson is the reading recovery teacher from New Zealand you met in episode two. Sandra was working on a master's degree at the time, and her thesis advisor thought that maybe reading recovery could be more effective. One group of kids got reading recovery in its original form; another group got it with an added element. The students who got explicit instruction needed far fewer lessons to be successful.
