The continent has a history of extraordinary violence, bad memories of each other. I have no idea when we break out, but about 100,000 people died in the Yugoslav Wars. So the question here is, when is the next European war? And I can't tell you, but it'd be a bad bet to think that one of the bloodiest regions in the world will suddenly permanently turn Pacific. It's an illusion. This is Europe. The malice is there."
