Stanley baldwin was prime minister for much of the interwar period. He said he came to understand that all human progress is a move from status to contract. For me, it what an open society rests on. It has elevated our species to a pinnacle of wealth and happiness. If by liberalism we mean defending that supremacy of the individual, then it's still the best idea on the market.
