What Is Marriage?
The idea that sex is only meaningful or most meaningful when it's potentially pre productive. The sexual revolution and advances in medicine really kind of put differentiations within human relationships and human reproduction that are impossible to turn back on. And I think part of why some of these attacks on gay marriage could feel so over determined was precisely that they could pretend one last time that a bunch of things were the same at everyone if they delved into their own lives.
