Is the New Mall Cannibalizing the Old One?
In the early 2000s, there was a mini trend to replace what we're seeing as the kind of old elephantine enclosed malls with these indoor outdoor spaces. I have this feeling that the out there malls are nearly always outdoors. And I actually decided not to talk about outlet malls in the book because they are quite a different business model and have a different story. Another thing that someone else brought up is airport malls, which are organized by many of the same entities as off airport malls.
