Southwest is a national airline, but it likes to pretend it's kind of a regional point-to-point airline. They want to argue that they shouldn't be subject to the same rules as the main line. And this is when it breaks down because their system is designed on a knife's edge and the knife cut through it. But given the state of US air travel, Southwest in my opinion is an excellent company.
