Sassoon was more patronising towards Owen than he would have liked to pretend. He became much more protective of him through the 1920s, and Graves is a little patronising towards him too. Sassoon hadn't spent much longer in the frontline than Owen, and Owen had probably had much worse time. The freedom came with certain constraints, they couldn't go into pubs for instance. But he was very lucky in the medical adviser he was given, Dr Brock who worked on a kind of therapy that was really, I suppose I'd almost call it a work therapy.
