The History of the African Community in the United States
Mose, it seems, was the first known african led town created anywhere in mainland north america. The spanish empire had different laws and practices about slavery an enslaved people. masters of slaves were traditionally expected to christianize them. And they were required to recognize marriages and family relationships among enslaved people which was not done in the english and british empire.
