In Britain and Ireland, we talk about an estate agent. An estate agent is the person who will rent you or sell you the property. The place where you go is the estate agency. That's the place to ask for in the UK. If a property is available for rent, you can say it is on the market. Don't confuse the word estate with state. State is the government.
