Taking Care of Bacterial Peritonitis

Liver patients are at risk for sepsis and dying from any source. Remember that the abdominal exam in SVP can be deceptively benign. When it comes to paracentesis, don't worry about the plate look count unless it's under 20,000. Do consider giving some albumin if you take off more than five liters, especially if you suspect that the patient has SPP.
