There's a lot of layers here and that complexity and sort of density of information you're talking about I think is really impressive because not only is it not based on a true story but usually with a movie like this, it's an adaptation from a book. There's these weirder dreamlike elements but they kind of sneak up on you because the style of the movie is very naturalistic for the most part.
