The Relationship Between TikTok and ByteDance
The relationship between TikTok and its parent company ByteDance is porous. The companies work very closely internally to the point that some people aren't even entirely sure which company they work for. All of TikTok employees' communications go through an internal version of Slack or Microsoft teams called Lark, a ByteDance product. Shochu said the people who targeted Emily were a bunch of bad apples who have since been investigated and fired.
