CHAPTER

The Alpha Is a Suppressive Oscillation in Visual Cortex

I thought the story was that it was a top-down control mechanism where frontal areas produce this alpha and that alpha is you know travels to or is manifested in visual cortex. That's because if you have like a really strong peak more neurons can fire and the neurons firing is an analog of things that you can hold in working memory. The other hypothesis was that the translations would mis-case generated in visual cortex so they were shutting down visual cortex in order to allow say more frontal regions to maintain the working memory representations.
