Military Stories - Is There Violence in Them?

There's this big appeal to military stories. I think that one thing is that what makes this story exciting oftentimes is how high the stakes are. And you don't get stakes that are much higher than life and death. That can be problematic in its own ways. In those cases, I want violence available as a tool to protect myself and that which I hold dear.
