Widows need courageous chastity to despise not only present or future objects, but also to resist recollections that the former pleasures permitted in marriage can produce. Young people frequently allow themselves to be so possessed with a false and foolish opinion that they have concerning the pleasure of a leptuous desires. It is easier to keep ourselves from carnal pleasures than to preserve moderation in them. The holy liberty of marriage has a peculiar force to extinguish the fire of concuposence, but the frailty of those who enjoy this liberty passes easily from permission to usurpation & abuse.
