The Importance of Descriptive Representation

In a democracy, we expect our representative bodies to not only represent the interest of the population, but also its demographics. We have a gut feeling that if we saw a representative body that was completely homogenous in some shape or form, we would be really suspicious of that. And so her argument is that we're kind of leaving out one specific part of that and namely where the intersectionality between women and race, women in ethnicity.
