Why Is Taiwan So Important?

Taiwan is the world's most advanced chip maker and largest manufacturer of silicon chips. It also produces over one third of the new computing power of the world as each year. This makes Taiwan a highly contested part of the world close to China, which may or may not lead to some kind of conflict in the future.
