We Work More Hours Than Any Other Nation in the World

We live in a culture of restlessness, just like ancient egypt. Here in the us, we work more than ever before. There was a famous senate sub committee under nixn that predicted, by 19 88, the average american would be working 20 hours a week. I wish that was our problem right now. Bak, leisure is down. That said, 37 % since the sixties. Part of the reason for that, when economists tell the story, is that americans chose more money over more time. But that's the counter cultural alternative, in particular for middle class and up. What a gift.
