The Liberal Program in Europe

Liberalism's main function, historically, has been to tear down the old obsolete mercantilist yield order. To create a free labor market and a system based on private property have permitted these millions of people to survive. Meanwhile, changing the world and changing mentalities so that when I read to you at the beginning of this lecture it was hard for us even to imagine a world like that. So different has liberalism changed everything, not least of which are own minds. Thank you.
