I don't believe that anything has fundamentally made it more likely than say this time a year ago. Is this just something where we need more exposure to the tools? But generally, people aren't putting sausages in charge of running critically important infrastructure like cars or cities. I think though, at the end of the day, we know that the brain is a connection of neurons,. It's electronic, it's a computer and neural networks have become affordable enough to scale enormously.
