Mattel's new CEO, Enon Kreitz, came in when the toy maker was really struggling. He felt that Mattel's catalog was second only to Disney in terms of children's entertainment. The idea for this movie was first kicked around before Christ kind of took the stage in 2008.
Mattel has 45 films in development. A cinematic take on UNO could be coming to a theater near you.
