The Use of Space in Humans

There's an increasing reason to think that our spatial mapping system might have become useful for other things as well. We can use our conception of space as a useful framework for organising these complicated social relationships that we store. There is some evidence that hippocampus might be used for this, in fact. So although it was originally meant for finding our way around, we use it to find our way around other sorts of space as well.
