It's really important to try to keep the autistic person in the loop. Inform them of these kind of pop up scenarios, these last minute changes now in the office or out of the office. Don't forget processing time doesn't get better with age. It might get worse if you're more stressed with life. So as an employer and conveying that to an autistic neurodivergent employee with notice is worth its weight in gold.
