The History of the Carribbean

Northern european countries saw opportunities in the caribbean. They saw advantages that the islands offered as strategic basis for trade and for further attacks on the spanish mainland colonies. This would really be the turning point where the caribbian transformed into something dramatically different, more like what we think of to day. The most famous and successful of them was francis ak who tried repeatedly to make alliances with the african laborers in these colonies.
