Gallienus and the Roman Empire

Gallienus, like domitian before him, has been absolutely vilified. But he vigorously and actively defended the empire from foreign invasion. He did indeed preside over a divided empire, but with everything rome was facing, the temporary division probably wound up profiting the empire in the end. Next week, we will get to the fall of this not great, but not terrible emperor.
