The world's population grew tremendously from 1840 to the early 1900s. During this time, we see a lot of measles epidemics in endemic countries and naive populations. Peter Ludwig Panam tracked an epidemic in the Faroe Islands in 1846. He really set the groundwork for what we understand about measles today.
