The New Dimension of Authority Dispersion in Bitcoin
When we have a broad dispersion of decision making, it becomes much harder to identify who is accountable. And I think Bitcoin represents the most extreme example of this kind of authority dispersion. It has for the first time in history, an entity that has grown to become global with dozens of millions of users at this point. The people contribute resources, the miners, they get to vote to approve and activate proposals made by the developers. We had seen that in the past looking at other free and open source software initiatives such as Wikipedia or Linux.
