The Sound Mix in Tarkovsky Movies
The sound mix in this is particularly... This is a nice famous one. Everything is really abstracted. They've taken out like a bit of the spectrum in a way which creates this very peculiar and sort of strangely dated sounding effect. There isn't really any background. Like there's no ambient sound. There's just these like distorted and echoing noises that kick a little bit of tile and it will sound like someone smashing a plate off their head or something. Presumably is meant to tell you things do sound louder if you're trying to sneak around maybe.
