The Story of a Canoe Rescue
Elmsley-Weeden: I saw a canoe just flying down the river overturned with a man and two young children clinging to it. She says her sister, Nettie, and she took an old wooden chest out of their front hallway and dragged it into the river. "I knew I was going to be in some deep trouble if we didn't get this back out," Elmsley Weeden said. The next day they learned that the family had been rescued about four miles down the river.
