The most recent big consolidation we saw was hachet book group buying up yet another pretty big publishing house, in this case, workmen publishing. Soyer: It's hard to watch, honestly, because the big houses are eating up the little houses. Once a house gets subsumed in this way, it's just not the same,. People leave, the culture changes, and it's sort of like the stepford wives of book houses.
