The Cross Cultural Variability of Child Psychology

I think it's fair to say that child psychology has been especially in the 20th century predominantly a western enterprise and perhaps increasingly an English speaking enterprise. I'm tempted to think that when it comes to making sense of people's emotions we can reasonably expect children to travel along approximately the same road so to speak and reach the same destination even if some of the nuance may be somewhat different depending upon which culture they're in. The good news is that developmental psychologists are increasingly worrying about this problem. It's also the case that in other parts of the globe we see psychological science becoming better supported training is improving with colleagues from China from Turkey publishing their findings.
