What Is the Key Lever in Long Term Care?
The absence of a comprehensive approach to long term vices and supports underlies both the weaknesses of our current home and community base system. I think we need to have a lot more flexibility in the way we provide care for people, such that it really is the kind of care that they need. For these programs to really work, the savings have to be funnelled back into coor person centre care, and not into corporate revenues and shareholders pockets. And i worry that right now that may be part of what we're seeing with these value based programmes.
